A new find and a new chapter

If you guys have the time, you really ought to go and take a peek at Transportation in the Dearth Age.  It is a new blog and I have found it to be refreshingly practical and realistic.  Welcome the guy on board and maybe he will continue fighting the good fight with our sorry asses.

Chapter Three is up over at the serial.

Not bad. A bit on the "optimistic" side, but not bad...

You're right, Mayberry. I'm not of an apocalyptic mindset, and don't buy into the roving-hordes-of-mutant-zombie-bandit meme. I agree with Degringolade that we have no way of predicting the future other than observing the approaching event horizon. I don't know if you've ever lived in northern part of your state, but when you see a tornado coming, total destruction is not assured. Therefore, it's pure silliness not to hole up in a centrally-located closet and pray. If that's optimistic. I'm guilty.

It's not the "mutant zombies" I'm worried about. And no, we can't predict the future, but we can study the past, and compare current trends to historical fact. Having done this, I'm definitely looking for that centrally-located closet, because I see a tornado coming. An F5, and it's a big sucker. And like a tornado, it will wobble and zig-zag, flattening some structures while sparing others. The tornado is the collective, the flattened structures are the individuals...

I meant no offence by the way, just expressed my opinion while I still can.

None taken (I would submit that if I'm that fragile, I have no business paying attention to reality). And you're right about historical precedent giving us the clue that societal destruction is fairly random.
