So, why is it so important for folks to feel like they are prophets? I include myself in the mix.
As a species, we seem to pride ourselves on our ability to say “I told you so!”.
I know no one who can truthfully say that they have been right about the future without serious weasel-wording and self delusion.
I wonder if there is a DSM category for this type of behavior.

Our physiollogy versus other primates indicates we are adapted to long distance travel.
Knowing where you are going, and what you will find, before you walk a few days with all your worldly possesions has obvious advantages.
There are some cetain mathematical certainties with regards to the future that cannot be avoided. But predicting how we will get from point A to point B is of course, as you noted, the challange.
