You are being too hard on yourself. I didn't think it poorly reasoned at all. Some of the shit that gets trucked in this country is (take your pick): criminal, insane, both, worse than any of the above.
We haul Wisconsin potatoes to Idaho and Idaho potatoes to Wisconsin. We haul special 20 packs of Coca-Cola to other Coca-Cola bottling plants 500 miles away because the other one was only set up to package 12 or 24 packs. And on and on one could go.
The blog you promoted yesterday really nailed it with the 'low hanging fruit' analogy concerning the easy conservation right in front of us. But we, of course, will be too stupid to act. It's a brave new Bean Counters world we live in now.
